The Studyworkshop of the Institute for Special Education

    Projects and Reports

Within the context of seminars of the studyworkshop students prepare projects for pupils with and without special education needs in many different subjects, such as social studies or mathematics. In the following, a short insight into the projects which have been realised so far will be given:

    Optics Project with heterogeneous groups

How does it work that kids with different learing abilities and preconditions are working together on the same topic and all of them are able to benefit from it at the same time? Working with a so called „Inclusion-class“, students of the University of Wuerzburg who are aiming  to obtain a special eduacation teaching degree found out how this is can be managed.

Report in the journal 'einBlick' about the studyworkshop: Mathematics in the skate ground

Learning mathematics in the Ringpark, close to Juliusspital, or in a skate ground – namely with pupils with the most diverse learning preconditions. Students from the University of Würzburg show how this can be possible within the context of a project developed in the studyworkshop of the Institute for Special Education.

Report in the journal 'einBlick' about the studyworkshop: 'Bridges' for an inclusive science lesson

Students with and without special education needs dealt with the multilayered topic 'Bridges' within the context of a project at the Wittelsbacherplatz. The morning units were planned and realised by students autonomously. Thereby they could experience inclusion in practice.

Report in the journal 'einBlick' about the studyworkshop: Complex mathematics – easy and inclusive

How is it possible to teach pupils with special education needs in the field of mental development complex mathematical contents and patterns? This was examined by teaching-degree students from the University of Würzburg in the context of a studyworkshop project at the Institute for Special Education.

Report in the journal 'einBlick' about the studyworkshop: Lending numbers are rising

A great fund: About 3000 teaching and learning materials for school teaching and studies can be lent by teaching-degree students in the studyworkshop of the Institute for Special Education. Rising lending numbers show that the offer is well accepted.

Projects of the studyworkshop: Our senses, Pascal's triangle – Experience inclusion directly

The article about the projects of the studyworkshop in the winter semester 2013/14 can be found here.

The three-dimensional Pascal's triangle – an innovation of the studyworkshop of the Institute for Special Education for mathematics lessons in inclusive classes. With Pascal's triangle, the row of whole numbers can be built up, using a basic application. Furthermore one can find the numerical order of triangle numbers (picture) and the triangular pyramid numbers.

    New rooms for the studyworkshop

The studyworkshop moved to new rooms at the Wittelsbacherplatz. In its session on the 15 November 2012, the facility-management commission of the Faculty of Human Sciences accepted the request of the Institute for Special Education for new rooms for the studyworkshop. The studyworkshop is now located in the new rooms 00.114 and 00.114a. In addition to that the studyworkshop seminars and associated courses gained the prior right of occupancy for the new seminar room 00.113d, which is situated next to the new rooms. The assignment of rooms is terminable and is valid for periods of studyworkshop-related activities only. A big thanks to the many people who took part in the decision-making by providing lots of time and effort.

    Project Volcanos

An inclusive class explored volcanos. With this title, einBlick, the online-journal of the University of Würzburg reported about a project offer of the studyworkshop. The complete text can be found here.

Project day Air and Air pressure

The project day was executed by students in cooperation with Mr. Goschler from the studyworkshop. A class from the Christophorus-school (Education for People with Developmental and Intellectual Disabilities), a class from the special pedagogic education centre Würzburg (Education for People with Learning Disabilities) and a class from Goethe-Kepler-primary school were taking part.
